    The Okuhida: The origin of my landscape photography lies in the mountainous scenery of Okuhida that I viewed daily in my early boyhood days. Mountainous scenery is the scenery of my downtown to me as like downtown in snapshot is to a photographer who was born in a city. I know from experience that beneath the surface beauty of the mountain, there lie issues such as severity of living rather than adventure, fear coming from the absolute silence and darkness and anxiety for depopulation and aging.

    ZOO:For those viewers expecting to find familiar images of animals in picture books may feel disappointed seeing my photographs. I take pictures of zoo animals and visitors of the zoo. I seek to make contrast between the animals in confinement and people of today. The zoo animals are animals that were born in the zoo. If they were born wild animals, their parents will raise them. They self-feed and borne offspring as they grow up. Each animal has the survival instinct to live in the wild life. However, zoo animals do not live on survival instincts and are made to live in confined space away from their natural habitations. When they die, they are stuffed and made specimens.

タマヒルズ

    Tama Hills:In the west side of Kanto plains in Tokyo, there is a vast Tama hill. It has developed as a housing area in the outskirts of Tokyo. The development lagged behind and population started to show deterioration due to the series of bursts of bubble economies that started in the ‘90s and still continues to date. I aim to capture the process of erosion and transition of artificial landscapes taken over by nature.

白馬岳 その１０ 白馬大池の朝

朝6:00ごろ、生憎の雨。 同室の人たちがほとんど荷物整理でいなくなった後、昨夜あまり眠れなかったため(一畳に３人、苦笑)まどろんでいたところ、窓から明るい光が差し込んでいることに気がつき。 ガバーっと起きて窓から撮影した大池。 奥に白馬乗鞍岳の山頂付近が写っている。

カラー写真。水面の柔らかさを表現するためシャープネスは一切かけていない。SP2はSilkypix Ver2βの意味。
